IMO, small reef tanks are too much of a hassle. I would just go with the frag tank, it's useful and practical and you can always throw an invert in there if you want.

I'm gonna have to go with this too now, it will really help your current tank.

i dont really want to make a fuge. i have a lot of room in the back of the filter i have and have a good light for chaeto. i will put the mangroves in the DT to the back right of my tank. there they get less water current and MH lights.

I'm gonna go with the Refugium as well. I know it's not as fun but it's a 10 gallon tank. IMO not worth the headache that may come with it with the other options. make the fuge and increase your water volume by a third it's current size and hide your heaters and everything else hanging in the tank.

I guess it would really depend on your budget, and how much time you have to devote to another smaller tank. People get the misconception that a smaller tank is easier to take care of, but that is just not true. And it really comes down to your personal preference and what you enjoy, out of those that you have listed, what is number 1 on your list right now?

right now its a tie between a macro/mangrove/mantis tank or just a clam tank. i like the clam more but would need a lot of calcium.

A clam tank would be kinda cool. But i can see where every one is going with the fuge idea.
