I was just wondering if I can get solid advice on lighting. What light is recommended for a coral tank? Are t5 ho's ok?
If so I would like to know what brands and a little schooling on jargon. (color temp watts required etc.) Thanks

T5's with SLR "single light reflectors" with good brand bulbs are good for 24" deep tanks.. SPS,LPS,softies.

You can go 30" with T5HO if you place your corals by their light requirement and use top of the line fixtures and bulbs.

Thanks for the info guys. So I will probably go with t5's.

There is a LFS thta has linkable t5's. comes with 2 bulb fixture and then you can add another fixture to it. ever heard of this? as I really could use the intitial break in cost. thanks

sounds like a retro kit. these are very cost effective but require a canopy and some handywork

how much is your lfs selling them for (if you dont mind)... the problem i see with these is the bulb spacing. the bulbs look pretty far apart so you wouldnt be able to put many bulbs over the tank as opposed to a TEK or retro system
