Can you keep a ray in a reef? Pretty straight forward question. How big would the tank need to be?

    Need a huge tank.

They are very active, messy eaters. They may very well munch on many of your tank inhabitants.

I have seen others attempt to keep them and regretted it. Sometimes the rays are so active they develop abrasion from scraping against tank walls, rock and corners. These abrasion set the fish up for secondary bacterial infections.

Thanks coralline I was thinking of the blue dot. But that is a very cool ray. I think you are right about it though I should probably just bury this deep in the want but shouldn't have box.

I think we all have one. Cheryl's list looks surprisingly familiar. Hmmm...

They are awkward swimmers, much more so than Puffers. Like Puffers are toxic and can release that toxin when stress or dying per the urban reef myths.

I tried to keep them twice, the fish died within 2 weeks with both tries.

The only thing in my shouldn't have box that I have not attempted to keep are the Nautilus and the Blue Ring. Nautilus are Pelagic, they really only belong in public aquariums. Like a squid or octopi, smart and need the right foods and a ton of room. They bang around even large aquariums.

Have done the Bamboo shark twice in a 200 gallon tank and both times their swimming pattern drove me nuts. Round and round and in the over flow and round....not a good choice at all.
