    Hi there especially the pros.
    Recently my father gave me the task of mounting a stock area of around 5000Lts for our local with one central filtration. I'd be very happy for some advices on the filtration, water distribution..etc....Waiting for a positive reply. I'll be posting the plan of the tanks arrangements. soon to come

    Here is the plan with top-view and front view!!!

    some important details on the arrangements;

    In all the total tanks will be 24. Each tanks makes a volume of around 275 Lts or 70 gallons. They will be distributed into two columns of 12 tanks. Because of very limited space one column will be set up to 2 floors as illustrated on the plan. Both columns will have their the floors on same level. The max height of the columns will be more or less 2m.

    *Skimmer to be used deltec TC3070s
    *biological filtration i've planned to go on a bio-ball cascade or also known as wet/dry trickle filter

    The rest I count on the advices.

    Drill holes for 2 bulkheads in each tank. One is the return and one is the drain. Put a basket on the drain so fish can't end up in your filtration sump. On the return lines, put a ball valve on each return so that you can adjust water levels and flow. You can use flexible tubing on each of the returns as well to minimize splash.

    On the drains, you need to plumb a drain vent. Otherwise you will slow the flow down a lot because an air bubble will clog off part of the area where the 90 is. I.e. instead of using a 90 or 45 degree PVC piece, you will want to use a T fitting. To get the drainage for the top two rows, it's easy. Use a hole saw on a large piece of PVC (say 4" to 6"). Have all of the top two rows drain into this big pipe and run to your filtration tub. This won't work for the bottom row because your asking gravity to work upside down. I.e. drain using gravity and then go uphill to get into the filtration tub. This can be solved two ways. Dig a hole in the ground and sink the filtration tub....or get and inline booster pump.

    I hope this makes sense

    It do make a lot of sense m8. At the end of the day u are teaching me a lot. Am very young in the domain, and taking advices from professionals like is what will make me grow;). thnks very much8)
    Just a quest concerning the distribution of water back. Wat capacity of return pump would u suggest considering each tanks will be around 70 gallons. How many return pump to use?

    As far as how many pumps to use, there are a number of ways to accomplish this. If you have ball valves on each return, you could use one large external pressure rated pump. The only issue with this is that you MUST have a backup pump that you hope collects dust and never gets used. I don't know what the prices are there so you're going to have to make the call on this. You could also use 3 internal pond pumps (still have to have a backup but they are cheaper.....you would need one for high head pressure) with high flow.

    (Footnote: I'm VERY stressed right now and I'm not sleeping. Send a PM to 3Reef username Gresham for his thoughts. He might completely disagree with me. I want you to get the best answer before forking out a whole lot of money)

    Would also use flex pipe to connect each drain to the large commom drain. With that many connections, any slight shift in plumbing, stands, or tanks will crack a tank if hard plumbed.
