You could add him first and use your DT as a QT tank except without the copper treatment?

I am thinking about a kole tang in my 65g but it's a 4' tank.

Thats a very good idea! Problem is he cant be the first one because i have my clown and chalk bass in the 30 gallon and they will need to be transfered to the new tank along with my rock, some sand, water, and filter media to quickly cycle the tank. Hmm....

Unless you want to ruin the tank catching the tang, I would go against it. In any way I wouldn't put a tang in a tank under 75 gallons and 4 feet long.
A QT isn't necessary for a kole tang, copper won't do much either.

Alright thanks. I just feel like the schooling bannerfish (10" full grown) would have a bugger bioload an be more cramped in the tank then a 2-3" yellow eye kole tang. Tang is very deep as well, if that makes a differance.

Tangs are far more active than bannerfish. I have yet to see an actual bannerfish that's 10 inches, one person on RC has a good method for finding a fish's max size in aquariums.
(max size of fish) times .65, so a bannerfish's max size is about 7-8 inches in aquariums(unless somebody has a large environment or public aquarium, etc.) For the waste
amount tangs might produce a lot of waste because they eat so much and are so active but I have no idea.

i would say go for it and if it gets too aggressive/too big for the tank, give it back to the lfs. although it is hard to catch a fish like that without messing with your tank, there are traps you can use. its really all about how much you want this tang and what your willing to do to make it thrive.
