Thats also a problem.. A tang is really prone to ick and lateral head line erosion ( I think I said that right...) you would have to worry about that. With the tank not being that long, you would have to worry about stress and scratches not healing. That's why I say you should get it small of you really want it, and catch it when it seems too big. I would set up a size where you give him back before you buy him do you don't have to decide when your attached to him.

Ya that is what im thinking. I would get a super small one, that way the tank seems 4' relative to its body size. The tank is pretty dam big so if he wante to he could swim in circles for ages, its deep. The lfs already said they would take him back and exchange him for another fish. If i do get one should i add him first so i dont need to QT?

Tangs and Angels usually are considered last adds because of their personalities. And then usually the most aggressive of the group last.

Okay then last it is i guess. Still worried about desiese.... I wish i could keep my 30 gallon running, or at least a 10 gallon! :( i will have a good amount of rock in this tank (75 poinds or so) and i am going to make a taller structure so the tang would have tons of room to swim

IMO If you really want the tang, I would remove the foxface off your list. Which leaves you with one large fish. Foxfaces tend to eat alot more as well. You will see a huge poo spike in your tank with one. Our old magnificent could mow down a 10x10 sheet of nori in a few minutes by himself.

Oh man we will have to think about it then... Our origional was 1 schooling banner and 1 foxface.. We were thinking about just replacing the bannerfish with the tang.. :(

A foxface would be more suited for the tank size however. They like to swim but not as frequently as a tang. Downside is they are venomous as well. :p So dont get stung! They are also more hardy then a tang and are fun to see change colors

Haha ya i know tgey are venemous, but its like a bee sting, i dont really care about it. I plan on my big fish being very small when i get them, so i will definitly return the tang once it gets too large. Who knows, i will have to see the tank stocked before i decide on the second big fish or not
