My tank is about three months old and my fish already aren't playing nice! All the research says a yellow tang and a flame angel should get along and they just didn't. The tang was the first in and a month later I put the Flame angel in. Well I gave the Tang the boot cause he was bein' a bully and I like the flame angel much more.

My question is whether or not it is a good idea to put my next couple of fish in at the same, and if I do will it solve territory issues? I'm currently looking into a Powder Blue tang and possibly a large Angel Fish. Any suggestions for fish that may get along would be greatly appreciated, I just want everyone to get along!

if your tank is a 75, I would watch putting in a large angel + powder blue. They tend to need bigger tanks and 75 could get cramped for them even with only two fish.

Another way to solve territory issues it to redo rock work. Putting the fish in at the same time would definitely be a good idea.

I am pretty much a newbie at this but I do believe adding another larger angel is bad idea. I don't believe dwarf angels are compatible with other angels.

    1. Welcome to 3 reef
    2. Yellow tangs can be bullies. I have always had a disdain for them after I had one that was like a junk yard dog. that said all tangs are territorial and will defend their area if they feel it is threatened. where real or percieved
    3. a Poweder blue is NOT a good fish for your 75. they require a much larger tank and it will be stressed in that small tank. trust me. been ther done that.
    4. in a tank that size, any new angel will be bullied by the flame. not a good idea.

So you know where I am coming from, I had a 75 before my 180. Great tanks. did very well. in it I had a Powder brown and loved that fish. I also had a tomini and a purple. all three did very well in that tank and were small specimens. I would stay away from the blue. if you thought that yellow was bad. buddy let me tell ya!

Would a kole tang and a powder brown tang cooperate?

all i have to say is that i hope the tang police dont see this.

most tangs need a 100+ gallon tank. you could get away with ONE being a kole eye but thats it.
