Firefish are always nice; personally I prefer the purple one. You can also go with a blenny, like the bicolor, lawnmower, or starry. Of course there are more but those are just my favorites.

+1 Search and you will see a bunch of people who had clowns for a XXX before they jumped. All it takes is one spook and they are gone.

Wow I actually missed that, I didn't notice the "no lid" part.

the mesh lids are great just take a few hours to make and are alot cheeper than tht glass ones with alot more air exchange.

but as far as cool fish wrasses are always cool ;D now that I was convinced to get two lol. also the fire fish are a must for me, the red ones are great really are like a yin and yang theme for me. as far as bottom dwelling fish tiger watchman, yellow watchman, twin spot goby, are a few that have great personiality and are good for that size.

middle of the tank I would do the clowns again a must fish for SW fun little fish. as far as tangs or foxfaces no, sorry but its way to small. if you are looking for a center pice fish a good one would be a dwarf angle if it is not a reef tank or even a buterfly for a tank that size.

also a anthis herem would be really cool for a tank that size its a bit small but can be done with the right anthis species. but there are a few that will do well if ther is one in a community tank.

there are literally hundreds if not thousand of choices, just read around and ask about specific fish before you buy. I have about 6 diffrent threads on what fish I though would go in my tank but later decided aginst it.

I have a glass lid with the pice of plastic for it to be able to bend back but im afraid to use it wont let the full spectrum of light threw. So if I make my own I can get the mesh from like hd and a frame.
