I'm starting a 40 gallon breeder fowlr. I will have 40 lbs of cured live rock, 60 lbs of live sand and will be running a magnum 350 canister filter, sea clone 100 skimmer, 2 penguin 660 power heads. I plan to add (not at once) 1 fire goby, 1 pajama cardinal, 1 black and white clown fish, 1 coral beauty. My clean up crew will consist of 20 snails, 10 red scarlet hermit crabs, 1 emerald crab, 1 pepermint shrimp and 1 cleaner shrimp. Is this a good stocking plan for this size tank?

    everything looks good except for:

    1. scrap the skimmer, get something better!!
    2. more live rock if you plan on doing a reef (IMO much much more cooler than anything)

    Good luck!!

Your stocking list sounds pretty good. I would add the coral beauty last, it may not take too kindly to new additions. I also agree on the skimmer, you will be happier later on when you don't need to replace it.

+1 with the skimmer. If you need an HOB skimmer, I highly recommend the octopus BH-100F. Its what I run on my 40 and its an awesome skimmer. Oh, and change that 1 clown to a pair ;)

Looks good - I would add the firefish first being that it is probably the most skittish from the list and let it acclimate for a week or so before adding anything else
