I have recently started a 55g SW (3 months ago). I am in the process of stocking the tank and looking for advise. My current list is-

    FISH
    2 black perc clowns

    1 fire gobby

1 purple and yellow dotty back

    INVERTS
    1 cleaner shrimp

    6 turbo snails

    1 sand sifting snail

    3 hermit crabs

2 camel shrimp (getting rid of this week)

I am getting rid of the clowns also. There is nothing wrong with them, just not really happy with them. The gobby and dotty back are staying. I am also going to add two peppermint shrimp and one blenny. Looking to add two or three more fish (don't want to over stock). What other fish would work well with what i've got. The tank will eventually be a reef setup with some SPS corals. Also, I would like to keep the fish size in the six inch and under range.

    your missing a wrasse.

yeah a wrasse should def be on your list. sixline, or splurge for the mystery....Also, maybe a dwarf angel, very good looks but SOME pick at corals, so you'd have to keep an eye on him.

i would go with a yellow wrasse, or possibly a flame angel. A couple green chromises wouldn't be a bad choice either.

Thanks for the tips. The wrasse is def. on my list. Sorry sterling, won't do a tang. At least not for now and not in a 55g. I just feel with the eventual size and the swimming space a 55g is a wrather small tank. Not sure, but are chromises agressive? Also, I only see the green at my LFS, are there any other chromises avaible?

chromis are peaceful. They are like a peaceful version of a damsel. In my experience they will establish a pecking order amongst themselves, but they don't bother anything else.

Heading to the LFS tomorow to trade in my clowns. They won't do a refund, but will give me a store credit. I will make a decision then. After an internet search the yellow wrasse looks sweet. Hope they have one in! The flame angel is also sweet, but a little expensive (about $70 at my LFS). Does that price sound high?
