Depending on the size you get the angel, it could be a long time before it gets too huge for a 180, just my .02

I used to have a lion and puffers in the same tank, large 6-8 inch black volition lion and porcupine, an dog face puffer. Nothing got in the lions way in my experience. Can't speak for the trigger though.

But then what do you do with it? You can't just donate it to the lfs and expect someone with a tank larger than a 180 to find and want it. That's pretty darn rare.

I guess that's a good point, I just think it would take a long time to grow out of a 180...

I'm still looking around at eels, I like a tessalata. May be to big. So angelfish would get to big for a 180g ? That's cool that you had puffers and lions. I'm really throwing this stock list around. The only thing I'm positive of is the lions. They are waiting for me at the LFS.

No one has answered about the starfish yet?

What would you do with a
    180g FOWLR????????

So I was researching and I read that for

A panther grouper at full grown the min tank size is 150g

The min tank size for the largest angelfish is 100g

Are these recomendations false? Why is it you say they will be too big? I have a larger tank than is recommended. Thanks everyone for your input. I still am interested in everyone's opinions

I am not sure where you are getting these tank size recomendations but keep in mind most are on sites that sell the fish.Smaller minimum tank sizes increaase the ammount of potential customers.IMO These estimates are almost always smaller then is prudent.
Heres a couple of links that explain my points on tank sizes.
Live Aquaria is a good starting point as most of there recomendations are at least reasonable.;)

Heres a pretty good site to give you ideas on compatability and MTS.
Saltwater Fish: Marine Aquarium Fish for Saltwater Aquariums

Panther Grouper:While not terribly active especially when mature) can grow to 1'8" and requires at least a 300 gallon aquarium.
Emporer Angel:1'3"Minimum tank size 220 gallons.
While a 180 is larger then your average aquarium be mindfull what we are doing is totally unatural so being cautious about our selection is essential to long term success and health of the animal.

You can get an angel, just not that angel. There's tons of beautiful angels though. imo the female spotbreast looks amazing in person - one day I will definitely get one (in a much larger tank than my current).

As for the starfish, I don't have much knowledge but since no one has mentioned anything, I've heard of chocolate chip starfish having their chips pulled off and being pecked at by green spotted puffers. Some of them leave the star alone, some don't. I've also heard of a chocolate chip star attacking a green spotted puffer while it was asleep - which had a rash on it after and I believe the owner actually saw and rescued it as it couldn't get away itself. Another thing to think about is how the heck you'll feed a star with those kinds of fish in there. Put anything beside the star and I'll bet the fish get it first.

Thanks a lot for your information. Those are good links. Your right about the tank sizes. I really appreciate all the info. Much more research is needed on my part.
