    I have almost 200 snails of, I think, six different species in my 55g. I don't experience die-off and my tank stays pretty spotless.

    my diamond goby was a great addition to my tank. I have sand as well and he does a great job of keeping the top layer clean.

    have you thought of a sixline wrasse? im not sure but they may go after crustaceans
