    Hey All,

I am getting ready to begin stocking my new tank. I was wondering if you all could give me your stock list if this was your tank.

    I have a 240g tank, 8ft x 2ft x 2ft.

I am going to do a full reef, from ricordea to sps. As far as inverts go there will be plenty of snails and hermits as my main clean up crew. I will also have 1 Blood Shrimp, and several feather dusters maybe a coco worm or two.

But this thread is for fish just wanted to give you all a heads up.

I plan on keeping mostly wrasses and 2-3 pygmy angels. I also would like a couple of shoals or schools. I am thinking of bannded cardinals and chalk basslets. A few tangs might be nice, no yellows as I hate them. I now I will be getting a Sailfin as this is my wifes favorite marine fish.

    Thanks for the help.

Evolved since this is going to be a wrasse heavy tank, your suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also since you don't live that far from me maybe one of these days we could each make a trip to see each others tanks..

for wrasse u gotta get a bird wrasse or lunar wrasse
also a problem is that wrasse are territorial so even though your tank is big u could only get 2-3 large wrassse

dont forget gobies... u need a sandsifting gobie to help clean up as well. my fav is the green warpaint gobie... gorgeous colors and there arent too many green fish out there. also u need to figure the safest order to add fish... u shouldnt add them all at once due to ur tank recycling.
    pink spotted gobies are nice
    green warpaint gobies
also, another invert that is cool and eats detritus is the fighting conch
chitons are neat too... they eat alot of algae and poop alot less than snails
hope this helps. i normally look at all the fish on aquacon.com... i wont order but i like looking

A bird or lunar wrasse in a reef tank? Sorry, but no. Please take a look at the link in my signature; it seems you're greatly misinformed about wrasses in reef tanks.

BioFreak, what species do you have in mind? With an 8'appointment tank, you can do almost any combination of Fairy Wrasses, and as many as the tank can handle. It will get expensive quickly however.

My tank is always open for viewing. You can come shop for frags if you'd like. :)

Big tangs and angelfish! I like small fish but you got a 240 gallon, get at least 1-2 in there! For small fish mandarins, more peaceful dottybacks, clownfish, dwarf angelfish, cardinalfish, assessors, damselfish, and hawkfish. Butterflyfish and certain species of eels are cool as well.

The two wrasses I've liked the most so far have been the Red-lined Wrasse and the Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse. I am open for anything though.

Okay, so My life has been a little busy and I have been in and out of the hospital recently. I am actually looking for a full list of what you'd put in this tank if it were yours. That way I might not have to think as much. I did list suggestions of what I was thinking of but, these were just suggestions. Give me the full list, if money was not an object and you could effectively put everything in the tank tomorrow have would your dream 240g tank look.

Oh and here what the tank looks like now:

maybe i can help a lil with ur stock... u have a huge tank so when it comes to fish u have all kinds of options. u can find a capability chart but dont limit urself with it since u have all that room. some dwarf angelfish get along great, ie. i have a coral beauty and an ebili that were made for each other in my 110g. the achilles tang is always a great addition tho hes a lil expensive... hippo tangs are well mannered but might eat some of the inverts u put in ur tank as well as with other tangs. tangs are very "happy-go-lucky" fish with great personality.
i dont have enough room for alot of the stock id like to have and some just dont fair too well with others... ie. the sea horse. the mandarin dragonettes are by far my favorite but ull need lots of copepods to keep them alive so culture them first... u can try to do so in ur dt or in a refugium.
triggers are pretty nice to have but are aggressive so they need to go in last if you plan on having them.
theres alot of sites with alot of different fish, id definately go online and look at all of them and figure out which ones u like and put them in order from non aggressive to most aggresive to prevent disaster and keep in mind some will eat corals and even nip anenomes.
keep us updated on ur stock and post more pics! ur tank will look great!
