storing salt for a long time

    well i was kinda feeling like buying salt without thinking... and i bought
    3 x 200 gallon box of oceanpure pro, 2 x d-d pro bucket, 1 x instant ocean bucket, 1 x reef crystals bucket, 1 x coralife bucket... and i dont know how long can i store these for????????? i only have a 80 gallon tank... might last me forever!!

    Pretty sure it'll keep fine as long as it stays dry..salt is used as a preservative so shouldn't it preserve itself? lol

    Try to keep it in low humidity to avoid caking, but even if it does, salt doesn't go bad as far as I know. Once you put it in the water, it will dissolve. Were they having a salt sale or something?

    when kept from harsh environments, the shelf life is infinite. if storing mass quantities I would keep them sealed until use, and use one at a time etc to reduce environmental exposure

    well i ordered the coralife, IO, and reef crystals from drsfostersandsmith to save on shipping and then i picked up the oceanpure and D-D from some local reefers because they were selling them at a discount price...

    I have 6 boxes of reef crystals in my fish room as well as had a fellow reefer local to me just give me 2 buckets of the plain instant ocean and one that is a green box of i/o I will use it in shorter time then you as I have the 220 the red sea and 92 but I just store it in the fish room closet out of humidity and have gone well over a year without touching a box before. I stocked up on a sale a while back also so I too have an over abundance.
