    Hey all,
I am wondering what the minimum requirements for storing water is.
For example, I have Live rock in a rubbermaid tub with two power heads. Is that enough to keep the water from going bad ?

What if I wanted to store 30 gallons os salt water to have on hand. What do you need to keep it fresh ?

    |Cheers

If you're storing fresh water, you dont really want LR in the container with it. Fresh water, will eventually with time, kill the LR (or any living things on the rock). A container/tub with some powerheads to aerate the water is really all you need.

In terms of saltwater, it's pretty much the same thing- a tub with some powerheads to aerate the water by agitating the surface, and you could use a heater jsut to have it around 78, so it's ready if you need to use it in a hurry.

    Great thanks
The tub where my Base Rock is sitting is salt water with two power heads.
    Is that OK ?

    Thanks

If your just storing the water, there is no NEED for anything. I keep my RO/DI water in a rubbermaid container, when I need some salt water I just mix it up in a 5 gal. bucket, add a heater and powerhead to mix it, then done, it's ready

Guitar is right you don't want anything in their other wise your nitrogen cycle will run and that pollutes the water.
