strange calcium readings with LED

    Sounds like an over-light reaction. Either dim the LEDs down or raise them up and I bet you see a more favorable reaction with those guys. You'll need to light acclimate them slowly over several weeks.

    I'd agree. You don't know what the PAR readings are from each set of lights, and IME, LED's put out more PAR than what they "look like". The light is very directional, and doesn't spill out of the tank like T5's and MH's.

    I tend to agree. Too much light from the LED. What fixture are you using?
    Also what is the alk consumption like?

    its the boost mu 135 led fixtures and alk consumption hasnt changed either steady at 8 dkh have not dosed it either.

    I agree with too much light. I bleached a couple sps when i first got my leds.

    ok so it's been alittle over a week now the tank with halides has suddenly used 25 ml of calcium while the tank with led's has used none now. This is after 1 week of doing the light change. Will update again next week

    I am noticing the same thing, my 55 with M.H is always using more Ca than my 29 with LED's and the corals grow much faster with the M.H's I think that is your answer, you have more extention and growth with the M.H's therefore more Ca being absorbed. Makes perfect sense to me.
