Sooo. I found a medium sized gbta "on sale" at a not so local fish store. (I live in a rural area. closest is nearly 2 hours away.)

Pretty obvious why it was so cheap. Not attach to anything. Just blowing around the tank. And you could tell it was trying to split for one reason or another.

So I took a chance and purchased it.

On the way home is looked promising. It attached to the back and semi inflated with bubble tips showing. But here's the problem.

Not only was it trying to split in half but actually into 1/4's.

Get it home. Acclimated it. Placed in the tank. Went straight into a cave. Next day it was stretching out to get light And looking decent.

Here's the weird part. Now it seems each 1/4 wants to do its own thing. So each piece is trying to roam about in their own direction but can't because they all all conjoined....

Now its not looking so good. Any suggestions? Or anyone ever heard if this before?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
At this point all you can do is leave it alone as much as possible and watch it.

I've named it "franken'nem" in the halloween spirit. Lol. One lobe is bubbled, two deflated and the other stretched tentacles.

Pic for curiosity? ;D maybe a rock fell on it or it was cut up by a powerhead, instead of trying to split. I've never heard of a nem stopping mid-split.

The place he has picked doesn't really let you see the "splits". Three are balled up sticking out between some rocks. And one of them is attached to the back glass.behind all the rock. uploadfromtaptalk1381975594087.jpg

when my orange bta split it didnt look "great" either and one side was pulling in one direction and the other the opposite so this is normal. what iv never heard of is a BTA splitting in 4 at once 0_o...

+1 on leaving it be, the fact it has a solid anchor is a good sign. good luck from my experience green bubble tips do better than others.

it looks healthy on the last pic
