So last night I noticed my blenny hanging out on his favorite rock and eating algae as he normally does. But when he finished eating, he swam all the way to the top of the tank, to the corner, and sat right on top of my Koralia. He was almost breakingthe surface of the water. He just sat there. He wasn't gasping or anything like that. He seemed quite content, but it is very odd from a fish that tends to prefer the bottom and perching on rocks far below, to suddenlt take a liking to sitting as high as he can. I was worried he might attempt a jump so I tapped the glass lightly and he just mosed back to the bottom. Later i saw him there again, and almost everytime i have seen him since.

All of my parameters are correct and the water conditions are actually perfect right now, and I can't find any reason for this habbit. The only other fish is a Pseudochromis, and he is always just chilled out. I have never seen him even act like he might be aggressive. He and Lenny (my blenny) actually share the same little cave in the tank and get along fine. Should I be worried? Is this a bad thing? Or am I just lucky to have such a ridiculous little guy in my tank?

sounds normal to me Generic 411 - they find a nice perch and return there regular
not always on the lower levels

I would reckon he/she might be having a chill out away from the flow - as the spot on top of your Ks will be one of the low flow spots

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure he wasn't unhappy for some reason. I couldn't find anything that might cause problems, so it's good to know that he is just hanging out.

These blennies are known jumpers so I'd be careful to have some sort of mesh top to prevent that. As stated already though, these guys will pretty much perch everywhere, and on top the p/h is probably the easiest in terms of energy consumption.
