Hmmm good call on the blasto, some pics that I've found just searching quickly definitely look a little like that, the only thing is that the blasto pics I've found the ridges/tentacles look much more swollen than what is sitting on my rock, but maybe this is still a remnant of travelling stress or the fact that this might be a smaller/less mature version than what I've seen, or somethig like that.

The fungia I'm not sure about, just because I know that some species live on the substrate, I'm not sure if ALL do. This one is perched high up on a rock piece and hasn't moved a millimeter. I'm going to look into this now.

Thanks for the ideas, if anyone else has more they are more than welcome!

not all fungias live on sand, they really can be found anywhere(in the home aquarium). and you made a great point, the "tenticles" on your specimen look too thin to be blasto, wellsi or merletti. it really does look like a baby fungia (plate coral). like i said, try to feed it and snap some pics, anyway you can disturb him and get him to close up, then take some pics of his skeleton?? that would help out alot in a better ID.

Might just be me but judging by the long tentacles and responsiveness to food i would say aiptasia or majano

oh i didnt even see that, i need to read things a bit better ;D IMO it eats like a fungia, a majano or aptasia would gulp that sucker down in a second, not to mention it looks nothing like aptasia or a majano.

I just took these. They are all under 2 ATI blue plus bulbs. Some of them actually came out better than some of my others before. I'm still not sure why I can't get it into good focus. Also it does appear to be somewhat stony when I touched it with a bit of tubing, it was much firmer than I originally thought.

Here is a pic when it's retracted after I sort of prodded it gently.

Here is one of the sharpest pics I've gotten of it's tentacles.

I think this is one where he's got a piece of mysis in his face that I fed him. He definitely does not "gulp it down" :), it takes a few minutes to work it down to the mouth area. I fed it a larger piece of mysis but a peppermint shrimp came and stole it out of his mouth, I actually saw the mouth gaping after the shrimp pulled it out of it's mouth, haven't seen that before!

    Other shots I just took.

There is another shot or two in my picasa album, hopefully it's not a problem linking that here, it's a little bit of a hassle to have to upload it to the 3reef album.

I'm crossing my fingers that you're right. So much better than a majano. Interesting thing to get as a hitchhiker.
I'm looking around at some more pictures and the more I look around the more I think you're right. I don't think I ever would have thought to check into that, I think because it's round and has a prominent mouth, and I was skeptical of a stony coral actually being able to survive as a hitchhiker. Bonus newb points to me I guess!

Thanks for all the ideas/suggestions everyone. If anyone else has any other ideas I'm still open to suggestions, but hopefully we have a winner here. :)
