I have these unknown specks on the side of my aquarium. I did a water change wiped down the sides and they reappeared. I also have a hithiker that appears to be a feather duster, only problem, it appears to be open at both ends. Any answers or comments. PS white specks are on photo with shrimp.... Thanks

Are the specks hard so that you have to scrap them off or do they wipe off easily and have a bunch of little legs?

    These would be hard.....

This is what I was saying would be soft.... there's lots of different varieties of these they look somewhat different.

(about the same size as the critters above)

It looks like hydroids, they rarely survive our in aquariums.

I have the top pictured ones in my aquarium. There's probably 35 of that I can see just on one small rock. What are these? They are too small to know if soft or hard..

I was rearranging LR when I noticed them.

It's a Spirorbid.... like little feather dusters in a spiral tube.

    They can get prolific though.

Usually I just leave them be.... sometimes I scrap them off if they get to be too much.

Both ID's are harmless creatures....not too worry. Hydroids usually die off on their own, and the other can be scraped off easy
