My Fairy Wrasse is not doing well. The store i bought it from said it was a Solar Fairy Wrasse, but it looks different than the pics I've seen online. Anyways, I've had him for about 4 months and he seemed fine up until a couple days ago. My Purple Dottyback picked on him a lot at first but it seemed to ease up a little. Every once in a while I would find him hiding in the corner of the tank after being picked on, but he would always come out to eat. Sunday I found him on the bottom of the tank with his fins raised and color was bad. His fins appeared a little torn. I tried feeding to see if he would come up but he would not eat. Tested water parameters and everything seems fine (Salinity 1.021, PH 8.1, Nitrites 0, Ammonia 0, and Nitrates 20). I moved him to a quarantine tank Sunday night and he's swimming very little. However, I fed him last night and he did eat and swim around after that.

I'm thinking the stress from being picked on caused this, but would it continue for a couple days after I quarantined him? How long should I keep him there? His color still does not look good and his fins are constantly raised so he still seems really stressed. Any help would be appreciated.

Be sure to add garlic to his food, It will help him recover. Leave him in QT intill he appears perfectly healthy and happy. Then find him a good home! IMO he will continue to be harrassed, and probly more so upon his return. So to put him back would not be wise. There are alot of choices out there Im sure you can find a different type of wrasse you can be happy with or get rid of the offender, either way would be good.

Thanks for the response, Dees Reef. I have been adding garlic to his food and he's eating. Starting to swim around a little more but he's definitely still stressed. If he makes it, I may just return the Dottyback to my LFS.
