Last night I noticed this rock with two mushrooms on it had fallen, turns out one had moved itself to attach to the live rock while the other stayed put, soooo we ended up with a very stretched out mushroom.

I was going to leave this in hopes that maybe the red one will frag itself somehow by leaving it like this. Should I leave it be or move the purple one on the rock back up with it?

I had the same thing happen to my hairy shrooms about a month ago. I put it back where it belonged and it split on it's own. Mine was stretched at the mouth and all you could see was the pink mouth looking like bubble gum It smelled and I thought maybe it was going to die, but it made a better than full recovery. put it back:)

my shrooms will do this often. stretch to another spot and leave the base behind to star another mushroom head.

Well mine do that too, that is common, this is not the case here. It is stretched because it is partially attached to a rock that fell, and partially attached to the liverock.

I am going to put the rock back up with the red shroom though as cuttingras suggested.

i also had a shroom get totally twisted until the head pooped off(too much current). the head went to reattatch itself elswhere in the tank and the ripped base of the shroom was damaged but later popped a new head.
