ok, so I've seen these for a while now. they seem to come from different corals, or places, no real one place for these guys.
    anyone know what these are?

There were 2 strings coming off this coral last night, you may be able to see the one. I followed the line up and then the other line is where the other string was from. They look just like a spider web with a couple small white flecks on them, really small and hard to see.

    Thanks!!

They are caused by snail. They are generally harmless but can be irritating to corals. Your decision on whether to keep or destroy them.

Sounds like Vermetid Snails. They will multiply exponentially and some hobbyists see these as pest, not because they're harmful to the aquarium, on the contrary, they catch particles suspended in the water and help clean, but the speed they multiply in is incredible. Eventually, you will have to be careful when moving rock, as their little cylindrical tubes can be sharp. I have them in my aquarium, and in despite of my best efforts to eradicate them, they keep coming back with a vengeance.

I've tried it all... the natural way: some people claimed that bumblebee snails will eat them... but I saw no interest from them on the little tube snails.
I've also tried superglue on their opening, for which you have to pull the rock out. And if you don't... you can be absolutely certain there's at least the same if not double the amount on the side of the rock that you cannot see.
Crushing them.. simply grab an object and crush them up or grind them up against the rock.

Nuking the rock is the one thing I haven't done yet.

Really up to you if you want to remove it or not. If you choose to remove them, do it now that their numbers are small.

Thanks Magnus, I've seen these in my tank for a while now. I've not seen or known if I've seen the tubes they come from.

I will have to do some more looking.
