i was going to wait and do a big "how do you do" for my 6 months since joining with all the befores and afters but i SUPPOSE i could let you guys get a peek early.... just let me finish up the sump and straighten up a bit

what about that kalkwasser bit earlier? i've got my cal up around 440 ppm. should i start mixing kalk and dosing to maintain that? i suppose there is a dosing calculator somewhere in the site for figuring that, huh?

No, I meant take pictures of you standing on your head and spitting jelly beans :)

Unless you're having problems maintaining your calcium using regular calcium supplements, I don't really see any reason for you to be dosing kalk. It affects your ph so until you learn more about it and until you're ready to start keeping a heck of a lot of stony corals, I would leave the kalk alone.

Is the Calcium ridding at 440 at the expense of a the LowDKH level ? or are they yo yoing from lack of proper Magnesium level ? With most new guys they over look the DKH or Mag levels and the Ca will jump up like this...

Test the DKH and Magnesium levels then post that info someone here will sort it out . I would never allow my DKH to fall off to below 12 and I aim for 14 as a average level ..

well The first questions should be how often do you do water changes?
as you will replenish your trace elements there as for stronium I never dosed it but it is wise to test before you dose anything. I do dose my tank but I have a scedule I do a 10% water change every sunday and dose b ionic every tues and thurs. 20 ml each 1 and 2. as for stronium I never dose and personally would not recommend it if not testing it. water changes will add back into the system if done on a regular basis. just my .02 cents

Yes, that dosing pump was hella expensive. I was dismayed, but got it anyway (almost 4 bills!)

The Ca/Mg/Alk I use - cheapest out there. Bulk Reef Supply

That's the one I got. I was using the manual hand pumps at first and mixing it in my top off water (which is a bucket I manually dump into the DT for now). I now use the pump for the dosing.

The av is from when I got LASIK. I have some others where you can see the lens sliced off my eyeball. Rad.

    ;D;D;D;Dthanx;D;D;D;D

In this case, you, for the most part, don't need to worry about trace elements.
