I hope that's not the case. I bought ultra lord acans a few months ago & kept them on bottom of my 56g. I had to move them up the tank cause they started to brown. I run my 120w LEDs at 60% also. They are doing great now. But I'm doubting the LEDs are causing the issue since your still having issues @ 40%. Good luck.

My Acans did not seem to be bothered by light, but they definitely did not like a lot of flow. In my ~high flow SPS tank, they definietly liked the quieter places better. for an LPS, I thought the Acan were pretty sensitive all around. I was getting really fond of Blastos that seemed to be much more hardy and you could find some really nice colored ones.

Yeah, I've been running a little less flow with the MP10 and moved the acans to the bottom (less light and less flow). Glad to hear you're having success!

Thanks for the recommendation. I really do love acans, so hopefully I can figure this out...

I think I'm immediately going to cut the C/GFO. After looking at BRS's calculator I'm using WAY more than I should be. Think I got a little too focused on algae prevention :ohwe:

FWIW,my LFS has quite a few really nice acans in their frag tank system that is all lit by radions.I'm pretty sure they've been in there for over a month.

Few Things ... Have you checked your dKh (alkalinity) and How long is your photo period? I've noticed between water changes I see a tiny swing in dKH but its not crazy. Is your water TOO clean? My LPS likes a dirtier tank. Lastly How long is your photo-period?IRL corals get 8+/- hours of day light ... Intensity isn't necessarily the problem, perhaps its a prolonged photo period. My Radions are on from 4:30pm to 12:30am ... Ramp up over the course of 1.5 hours until 1145 then sunset til 12:30. You'll do more damage running a light for 12+hours at say 50% then 8 hours at 60%. Just a few thoughts. Ecotech's customer service is awesome so I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

I'm currently checking ALK weekly. It fluctuates a bit (b/w 9-10) only because I don't have dosing pumps and add 2-part twice a week (5ml a dose), rather than spread out daily. But I plan to get pumps.

My photo period is 12hrs a day. Now I do realize that that is a long period, however they ramp up & down, with a max at 60% (prior to my recent drop to 40%) for only 2.5 hours. I'm assumed that since more than half of the period is under really low blue light that it wouldn't be an issue. Honestly, probably the biggest reason I bought the Radion was because of this feature. If I didn't care about seeing the light change like a natural day cycle, then I likely would have ended up with a different unit. I agree Ecotech has good customer service, and I've used it...but not for this issue, yet. They've actually looked at a very similar graph than the one I'm currently using and didn't say anything about my length of photo period.

What type of lighting did you transition from? Also how deep is the tank?

Been using the Radion since the beginning (tank is 6 months old). Depth is 18" and lights are 10" of the water line.

Well a fish certainly wouldn't die because of the lights and since you had one die and your GFO was depleted I would look at something there as the cause not the lights ;)

I run my radions at 45%-50% with the 50 peaking for only about 4 hours durring my photo-period. I cook the daylights out of acans and chalice at 60% and thats with the radions 8" above the water level in a 125g with those corals on the sand bed. Heck at 60-70% percent all my montis and chyphastrea cooked.
