I was having some issues with my CA in my tank..im currently dosing CACL and it was at 360. It turns out that the doser stuck and when i just got home...the entire bottle of calcium was dosed in the tank. It currently is off the chart at 30 drops...or I estimate 600ppm...what can i do?

    Regards
    Troy

Check alk and pH, dose alk as necessary to keep those up at a normal level, and ride it out.

only so much Ca can stay in solution. I assume you see white water?

You can raise your Mg to help it bind back to solution. You can do water changes to help lower the Ca.

But in the end, you'll have to ride this one out.

Was a siphon started or did the pump not shut off?

I'd like to know how and why it failed personally...

ah i finally figured it out....the pump did not stick. it was my mistake..they are vacuum pumps and they are hooked up to digital timers....i reset the programs this morning. i intended to set them at 1200pm (ON) - 1201pm(OFF). Instead i set it to 1200pm(ON) - 1201am(OFF). this was totally my fault....Anyways, the alk sits at 7.5 from its original point of 10 dHk...i guess i have to ride this one out....will the magnesium really help?

Wow that's a lot. Having that much calcium in your water right now, then it should look like it's snowing in your tank.

I did practically the same thing last week. My guess is that I accidentally bumped the "on" button on my timer. Anywho, WAY too much calcium was dosed. I raised my mg to 1500 and the calcium is slowly coming back down. I haven't seen any adverse affects in the tank. Best of luck to you.
