    I was thinking it was a sponge too, however it could be either one :confused: just hard to tell. From what I have read up on it.. They are harmless...Single cell critters, with a calcareous exterior

    the dark spot feels kinda like moss you would find on a tree or something. it came on the rock and i have not notices it growing or anything at all. my perams are ph 7.8, alkalinity 240, nitrite .5, nitrate 0, ammonia .25, specific gravity 1.022 and im working on getting that up a little bit, and temp 80*.
