I nearly moved to stump town a few years back. Instead my GF moved here from P land.

My older Brothers both lived there and one still does.

Hawthorne is the "hippy" part of town, one of my brothers lived jsut off of hawthorne.

Definitely hit the Lucky Labrador, Widmer Bros, and the Gorge.

Be prepared for huge crowds at Multnomah falls. It is always crowed.

I am sure there are a ton of places that I have not mentioned, but the locals are nice. So they can help you out.

The coast is awesome, as well as hwy 26 out to the coast.

    Have fun!

My brother-in-law lived in Portland for about six months last year - he said driving up the coastline was well worth it, if you have some extra hours on the weekend. He also has mentioned the waterfall close to town and the great seafood restaurants. Have fun!

    Glad you had fun!

The city has changed from about not even 10 years back, it is a lot more populated, making suburban sprawl and gangs more of an issue, but we still love the town.
