    Hey all...

I've been trying to figure out some things. I have a whisper 30 filter running a filter sock with phosphate remover in it and the normal carbon inside the filter thingy...(ya know, the normal filters that come with it)

Now, I've been going over a few set ups in my mind and i'm kinda confused.

Here's what I have in mind...
    1. Scrap the whisper 30...Get 2 phosphate reactors, one running phosphate and one running carbon...I know that for the phosphate the media has to tumble, but what about the carbon? How much flow is needed for that? Maybe I could have the 2 reactors inline with each other?
    2. Keep the whisper 30 and run the carbon in that, get 1 phosphate reactor and run the phosphate in that.
    3. Keep what I have currently

By thanksgiving time, I'll have about 60lbs of LR and a fuge/sump hooked up to the tank.

    I'm practically giving my tank a make-over..haha

Wait, so you have a 29 gallon tank thats already up and running and your going to add 60lbs of live rock to it? You know what thats going to cause, right?

All three of your set-ups would work, just depends on what you want to do. The reactors would be the most efficient.

Yessir, I had another thread explaining about the live rock...

It's already cured rock and I'm not just going to dump it in there all at once. I plan on letting it chill 'till everything evens out once I get it, then adding it to the tank little by little.

I'm leaning towards the 2 reactors...it seems more practical. For the carbon, what's the flow needed? and could I have them inline with each other working off the same pump? I assume the carbon needs more flow so I would have that first, then a line coming out with a ball valve to the phosphate and then back to the sump...how's that sound?

So you are looking for a stop gap until the sump setup ?

Most of what I found just says good flow through the carbon. I will place mine just befor the return chamber in the sump hanging in a bag.

For the P4 I would want more flow throught that but I guess it depends on how far off they are. I now use Blue Vet Phosphate Control. Easy to use, just use the dropper per your gallons. I used it over four days to go from 1.0 to .01.

But to answer your question, I suspect the Whisper will be good for the carbon and get a reactor for the P4.
