Stupid jumping fish

Does anyone have a good idea to keep a psuedochromis from committing suicide all the time. This fish just won't stop jumping out. Luckily, have been in room all times it has done it.

Tried egg crate. Cut my lights down too much. Also, would like not to have a full glass lid. I like oxygen.

 

Stop being in that room? (since it only jumps when you're in there)

Is it new? Might just need to get used to its surroundings? Or you might need to return it for a compatible fish for your scenario.

 

Have had it for almost 3 months now. This has happened 4 times now.

 

How big is the tank? With a bigger tank you could get a full hood to match the base. Mine goes over my lights and makes a sort of squared off dome that the fish can't get out of.

 

does it have any good hiding places?

 

if you're worried of not getting oxygen in the tank a good circulation and the protein skimmer will supply that.
