Oh boy! Here are the problems:
The first three have happened since the thing came out of the box.
1.) Always crashing. Every time I try to use it the laptop crashes at least once. The screen turns a gray/black and has white font about how the computer has crashed and it's dumping information, or something.
2.) The computer freezes all the time.
3.) A program, something named like mediatv, has never worked.

The following two are new problems that started yesterday.

4.) The operating system (Vista) won't start-up. The desktop appears like normal, then the computer screen says "logging off," then "shutting down," and then the computer restarts itself. It will do this cycle over and over until I remove the power plug and battery. I talked to tech support about this problem and after like an hour and half had it fixed (I think). But then,
5.) I got the computer back up and running so that Vista appears to work, but now the keyboard won't type. Instead, when I hit the keys it makes a static sounding noise.
6.) That one tv program thing still won't work.

Okay, so those are the issues! Whew!

Yup, send it back. The Blue Screen of Death is not a good sign for a computer. Usually, very bad software corruption, or in your case, I would bet a bad CPU.

Haha, lovely. Unfortunately HP said I couldn't return it, but they would take it back and fix it "free of charge." Let's see how that goes!

If the hard drive gets wiped anyways, I would HIGHLY recommend ditching Vista and going to XP. Vista was absolute crap. I tried 7 for a while but IMHO it wasn't much better. Half the problems could just be Vista bugging out in itself.

They will wipe it when you send it back. Even if you ask not to and they agree not to it will end up accidentally getting wiped. I suspect a system board issue to be honest.

I like Vista actually but you do have to service pack it to get it stable. Windows 7 is almost the exact same as Vista but seems a bit more stable during my testing at work.

I refuse to get Vista on any of my machines. It is a piece of junk. If you want XP on there, let me know and I will get you a good copy.

I was thinking along the same lines. Possible system bus controller.

Sounds like its time to write a nasty letter to hp how they let you down.... Hopefully you can sound nasty enough that they wont repair it but will send you a new one. Its always an accomplishment when you get your way with these big companies!!! :D

You can probably find a local shop that is HP warranty authorized to bring it to. It can be faster than waiting for them to send you the box and then the shipping / repair times can run two or three weeks.

Thanks for all the tips! I definitely do plan on writing a letter. I feel like if something is a complete piece of junk, even if it's outside of the return time frame, the company should take it back.

I'll let you all know how it goes!
