I had the stock hoods that came with my 60 gal forever. I'm needing to switch to something thats tighter fitting (something that a jawfish couldn't suicide out of). So In search of the best option I came up with three materials...

    Acryllic
    Glass
    Screen

I would like glass to avoid corrosion from the water splashing. My current hood, the acryllic part protecting the light has corroded and lets about 50% of the light through. The only reason I'm considering a screen hood; is because someone told me that a tight fitting hood like glass, hampers the gas exchange.

Can I get some opinions on how much gas exchange I would be losing from covering the DT, if I'm running a sump (which seems like this is the place where most of the gas exchange happens)?

Screen. Bulk reef supply sells kits to make the screen. I recommend that over anything else. It doesn't get nasty or buildup on it and still allows gas exchange.
