Yes, Lowes will cut to size for free as long as you purchase there. (at least my local store does)

i would recomend using 3/16 thick glass (i think that was the size, its a pretty standard size close to a 1/4 in)

i have heard of people having problems using acrylic baffles with a glass tank. somethign about thermal expansion rates being different. Also adhesion problems. Many ppl have used acyrlic with glass with no issues as well, but for the cost of getting baffles cut from glass from a local glass/mirror shop is worth it. i think i paid like 5 buck a baffle.

I went to Lowe's today and they happened to have a scrap acrylic 1/4 inch sheet laying around, which they were able to cut for me. He didn't charge me anything so that was cool.

My only question is--does the middle sheet of the 3 plate baffle have to be taller than the first and third? The sheet the guy gave me was the right width but if I use it for the middle plate of the baffle and have it 1.5 inches from the bottom of the tank, it is not as tall as the first and third sheets. If I put it 2 inches above the bottom of the tank, it is just over. Is 2 inches from the bottom too far from the bottom of the tank?
