I did quite a bit of research before I finalized my decision and purchased my skimmer. I assumed that there wasn't alot of this brand of skimmer for because people are extremely satisfied with the product and not replacing equipment.

However... No one ever recommends this brand of skimmer or sump.

I have a Sump Buddy running now that was "plug-n-play" as far as setup. I uploaded pics in the review thread and will keep it updated for additional information...

What do you guys think? Did I make a bad decision or is this not a widely used product/company?

Never heard of it before... Let us know what YOU think of it after a couple months. Maybe it will become more popular.

Its just a down sized reef devil from ETSS .. they added a round barrel mixing box rather the the 8x10 rectangle old boxes .

ETSS makes a great product and have for many yrs and I have used and sold them for many yrs from the reef devil up to the what is now called the 5000 .. and about everthing inbetween

Oh Lord no. You made a great decision. And I recommend the ETSS brands all the time. They are second on my list in fact. The PM Bullet series is number one in my book, but I have an old style 600XL that works great. There is no way I will ever replace it unless it poops out on me. But you are correct in that there are not a lot of people out there with ETSS's.....at least that I know of. Tangster I know has used them. He just posted. And I think I have seen maybe two or three other members write about theirs. Of the five or six different brands that I try to get people to look at when the question comes up, this one is the dark horse. Great skimmer. Not a lot of recognition anymore though.

Mine is up and running now in my 20 gallon sump waiting to be broken in and start making skimmate. How long did yours take and what is your water level set at in the riser tube?

How old is the system and what is the bio load like ?if its rather a new set up may take weeks ? Just dial it in to a dry as foam as possibe and forget it everytime you touch it will fall and have to restart. I cut off all air adjust water line to proper level and add just enough air to start to make foam and let it go. and adjust air every few days is needed ..

    ...umm...

whats the proper level? I set mine to where it seems as dry as I could get it. My "skimate" is very clear, not green, I assumed it was because I have such a small bioload.
