So i fnally did it. i bought a 75 gallon tank (lot newer and nicer than my old 55 gallon)and it has a built in sump box...but i need to build a sump now since i dont have 300+ dollars for a manufactured one. the things i dont no is what size i need or what size return pump i need. what i do know is that i want to put a wet dry trickle filter in the first part, protien skimmer and then a bubble trap going into the return pump, which is where i was going to put my heaters. Anybody have a good drawing/ setup theyd suggest ? and what size tank should i use ?

Right now i have my 75dt with a 30 gal sump, I have my overflow which splits into two, one end going to skimmer and one to fuge, and return in the middle. so its

    SKIMMER >> RETURN << FUGE

as for the pump, it will depend on how high up your DT is, and how much flow you have coming down into your sump! Someone on here will kno the exact gph you lose on each foot of the return, as for the size, the larger the better, assuming your 75 is like mine (75 long 4ft long) you will have lots of room under it for a nice sized sump, I wish i went bigger then my 30, but my point is the bigger the sump, the move water volume you can have, which makes it easier.
