    I would agree with separating the two sections. I am currently planning on a sump and fuge buildout for my 150G tank. I will have my drain split, one going into the fuge and the other going into the sump. I will have 2 1" bulkheads that will gravity drain into the sump, and only the sump will have the return pump. That will let me slow the flow in the fuge without impacting the return rate of the pump.
