After a lot of debating I have decided to build a 10g fuge/sump. In what oder should I place my equiptment? Does it matter?

    example- Skimmer-fuge-return, or Fuge-skimmer-return.

I'm not too sure about this but I'm sure one of the marine gooroos will chime in on this. I don't run a skimmer but I'm planning on adding one in the near future and I will plumb in the skimmer before my fuge which will then be returned to my DT.

i dont know if you will be able to fit the skimmer in with the fuge in a 10g.

i think a fuge should be 10% of the dt to do its job effectively.
so keep those in mind. i would have the water go through the skimmer first. so the pods dont have to go throught the skimmer to get to the dt.

also you may want to have the return pump in the middle.
with a fuge one side and the skimmer on the other.
this will allow you to T the overflow and control the flow rate in the fuge

i just built one for the first time , we did it for a 55 gal, we used a 30 gallon tank, i think u should try to find atleast a 20 i dont think a skimmer could fit into a ten gallon and leave you enough room for a fuge, return etc.

What we did was return, fuge, intake. its the first thread in i built this.

Also you want your fuge to be as big as possible.

    I built my 55 sump/fuge:
    Fuge/return/skimmer/LR rubble

I also think a 10 might be to small for an effective fuge. It would be worth it in the long run for a bigger tank. You'll wind up spending 2x the money by doing it now, and again later if the 10 is to small. Just a thought...
    Good luck either way!

how big is your DT? I just built a sump/fuge with a 10 gal tank. It all fits, but my fuge is a little small. If you can go bigger, i would, but you can make it work as need be. you just have to get a skimmer with a small footprint.

i did mine as fuge, skimmer, return. I do not have all the flow going through the fuge though. i have about half going to the skimmer section, and half going through the fuge.

I was leaning towards the 10g only because I already have the 55g set up and unfortunately it is to close to the wall (5 and a half inches to be exact). That is why I was leaning towards the ten. I tried a 20g and it was to wide. From center support to center support it is only 10 inches under the stand.

I had the Tide Pool II which is 13 gallons on my 135 gal. tank and I ran 0 nitrates as soon as my chaeto kicked in. 10 on a 55 is better than 0 on a 55:)
