Can't you just put the sump under the stand before you put the tank on? I'm sorry I didn't look back to see if your tank is already on the tank filled.

bump for your question if your tank is already full

Tank has been up and running since Oct. If it was empty i would of already pulled the brace out and installed the sump.

You can have a stand failure if you do this, with that much weight on top I wouldn't risk it honestly

Can you take some pics of the stand? It may be easier to just open one of the sides and send the sump in lengthwise. Also, draining the water half way will help if you need to move the brace but thats a huge risk.

Is it one of the cheap stands that come with the tank? They are barely held together with staples and glue, if you remove the side panels to slide the sump in that also would severely compromise the stand

Its all solid oak I believe. Its pretty much 4 pieces of 1.5" thick solid wood....top bottom and 2 sides. There's no way I'm cutting a hole in the side of this stand. Just using my fist I can move the brace either way in or out...which makes me believe that there isn't much pressure on it. I'll snap some pics when I get home but this stand is defiantly nothing like the store bought stands.

I would throw in a couple of temporary 2x4s to support it before you remove the center brace... Just in case.

I had a stand that also had a pretty flimsy center brace, never tried it but I think I know what you re talking about.

The center brace is 4.5"x3/4" I believe its there more or less so that the doors don't swing in too far. If the brace wasn't there the doors would swing into the stand. I think I'm just going to put up a 2x4 on each side and one going across the top just to be safe but I really don't think that its even needed.
