It's no harder to drill a 10 gallon tank, but the glass is so thin that you have to be careful not to over tighten the bulkhead, or crank on the overflow pipe. The glass cracks very easily.

Here let me help you.READ!!!!!!!!!!That Google search box at the top right of your home page is there to help answer your questions without you having to make a new post about them every time.
Every time someone on here asks a question that has already been answered a hundred times it makes it that much harder to do research because you have to go through a hundred posts about the same thing. For instance I just typed in installing an overflow and got 4 pages of info. It costs us more to run this forum the larger it becomes so before you start a thread look it up I am sure you will find your answer. But if you don't then ask we will be happy to help. I think I am going to start a thread right now asking others to do the same.8)

It's NOT hard to drill, the glass is thinner and more fragile. If you can't drill it, or are unsure, then you have to use a HOB overflow, but that will cost you more $$ unless you can find a good price on a used one.

Well would my heater go in the sump area? the sump is going to be right behind the DT because I have so much space on the stand so i dont see flooding as a problem

I sent you a message on your profile...

Your heater can go in your DT or sump, it's really personal preference. I don't know if it would fit in a 5g once it is sectioned off though.

what is your budget at this point? Do you have a standard 10g? I have a rimless, and I don't want to try to drill it, so it's all hob for this one. I'm thinking of running a aqua-c skimmer and a aqua clear for carbon. I only have enough room for the small one with my skimmer.......BUT I have a big aqua clear and another aqua-c, but I'm not sure what you budget is. I'm also thinking about trying to make my own hob nano over flow, because I don't think it would be to hard or that much $ to make it out of pvc and acrylic if I cant find small boxes to mod.
