if protein skimmer could remove evrything so fuge couldnt survive, why have fuge? i am thinking that if you run PS before fuge it will take out what it acan and fuge will "eat" the rest?

Naw, my skimmer will have a much lower flow rate than my fuge. Not only that, but the skimmer will get the broken down protein particles where the larger stuff will pass to the fuge. The fuge will see plenty of matter. My two koralia-2's pump 600 gph each so detritus and left over food won't have time to settle and break down to skimmable proteins. At least that is the goal. :)

Construction will have to wait for now anyways. My glass dealer is swamped and he can't get my panels cut until Monday or Tuesday. :(

oh no, i understood what you were saying. I was just wondering why people say that putting a PS before fuge will kill it.......

I've had a change of plan based on a few comments from here and some reading I've been doing. It's slight modification.

I had way to much flow to the fuge, so I made a Y in the line with a control valve to the fuge. Also, since the fuge will have it's own intake and I need to keep pods from getting skimmed I had the main input go to a container where skimmer water is drawn from and deposited too. Then it will overflow to the sump area through a bubble trap. Hope this diagram is clear.

I appreciate all the input from everyone.

Let me know what you think of this one. lol :O)

Finally getting started. Bought all (I hope) the plumbing tonight and am starting the build this weekend.

Going to be a busy fish weekend. Putting the other half of my sand in as well. Pictures will be flowing.

How is the water getting from the fuge to back to the DT, and what is the chamber inbetween the fuge and intake chamber and where is that water going to go??
