Sump heating

    Correct. If the return pump itself stopped for some reason and everything else was still running, then this would be the only case it would be handy. But that would be very rare, and you can install a temp alert alarm with the probe in your return section of your tank (assuming you have one) if you are worried. That way if flow stops, that water will become ambient temp a lot faster than the DT temp and let you know there is an issue.

    Wouldn't you have bigger fish to fry (pun intended) before the heat in the DT becomes an issue if you aren't returning flow from the sump?

    Thanks for all of the feedback!!! We are going to give it a try with the heater in the sump and see how we like it. It will defiantly be nice to have one less thing in the DT.
