Hey all! I just found a great deal on craigslist:
    55 Gallon Tank
2 pendant hqi fixtures (250 watts)
    30" 50 watt fixture w/moonlights
    70w hqi fixture (viper)
    Uv sterilizer
    Skimmer
    Heater
    Reef test kit
    Rodi filter

    All for $250!

The tank is acrylic and pre drilled with an overflow, and I have a 20 gallon long tank that I'm gonna be using for a sump, that 30" light will go on it so it can be used as a refugium as well, but what would I have to do to make the sump and should I put anything other than my heater, sterilizer, abdskimmer in there? Should I get a canister filter? Carbon filter? I don't know any of this stuff about sumps, I've been looking at return pumps on aquatraders and I was told to get a 750?

the risk you take with craigslist is you dont know when any of your equipment is going to breakdown and most people deconstructing a tank say "there moving" in essence they dident feel taking care of it anymore and let it go to hell i wouldent buy if i was in your position

You will want a return pump that runs at 200gph at 4 foot head in other words it runs at 10 times the sump's volume. This will allow your skimmer to more efficient and keep micro bubbles from getting to the tank once everything is broken in.

You could do a canister filter for carbon and GFO or buy a reactor for them.

and at that price i really would be extremely worried that your systems going to breakdown or somthing will have issues
where are you located im posting a whole 55 gallon setup monday or tuesday in forsale

in no way am i saying dont buy his setup or buy mine but what im getting at is thats a extremely low price thats retail of about $1500 for $150 or whatever the asking price was id be concerned that his equipment went through a power issue, shortage or any issue
i dont buy tank or for this case any equipment or anything from other people or friends because i dont know where its been my tank is 100% filled with water as to his he might have leaks or a known issue and is not telling you whenver you see a deal like this i would stay away nothing good ever comes out of it
