You are picking up an overflow box - the over flow should run into your 10 gallon sump which you could (should) install some baffeling in maybe some live rock and then a return pump. I suppose this is endless without further information or more of an understanding of what you are trying to accomplish. Tell us a little but more and we can help you out

I personally would also look into another overflow box if you havent already purchased that one or see if you can return it. It does not even rate the amount if flow it can handle just how many gallons the tank "should be." Also, that overflow bow will take up a huge amount of space in your tank and look really out of place, you aren't pumping that much water though it. I would stay with the "u-tube" style like you picked though, much less of a chance of it loosing siphon.

So a lesser expensive option, look at the eshopps overflow. For such a small tank I would look here Reef Aquarium Filtration: Eshopps Overflow Boxes They have a 300gph or a "nano" which is 200gph. Either one would work, as you dont want just water flowing so fast through your sump to do anything.

Once you get the proper overflow box you have to look at the right size pump. Brand is all up to you a lot of people use the mag drive pumps, I use one but I also use a Sicce pump which I love. Look into the Sicce syncra 1.5 or 2.0, or something similar like a mag5.

a 10 gallon is small so you are going to have to build your sump with everything in mind. Are you going to run a skimmer? Are you going to run a sock filter? Or do you want it to be mostly a fuge? Go to a glass shop and order 1/4" thick glass pains to the size you want, glass will adhere much better with silicone then acrylic would.

If you have any questions let me know I was in the same boat as you before and now I finally have my system where I want it(for the most part, Haha).
