I recently purchased a 90 gallon setup with a sump. I have never used a sump system before and i am trying to make sense of it. I am including pictures of the sump setup so you guys can tell me if it is a good setup, an ok setup, or a bad one and give advice and maybe tell me about the parts and what to do with it. I have read about sumps elsewhere but they are all different and none look like mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

looks ok to me just really dirty. as long as you don't add any extra equipment its probably good.

the sleive looking thing catches debris from the overflow. that pump connects to a hose to pump water back up to the tank. the circular thing is a protein skimmer Im gonna guess and say its a coralife needle wheel skimmer

Sounds like a good buy. The skimmer is a coralife needle wheel skimmer, hopefully a 125? ;)
