I have a 41 gallon tank that I want to set up with a wet/dry filtration system. From what I read, there is no real formula for sump capacity, just that the more water the better. I have been looking at an 18 gallon sump that is currently on sale at Aquarium Wet/Dry Filters: Berliner WD-125 Wet/Dry Filter by Magnavore I would like to have a refugium and a skimmer. Any opinions?

just build your own. Few sheets of glass and acrylic, silicone, and a 20 gallon long and you're in business

when making pannels make sure its matches the sump, Like if your sump your using is glass make the pannels glass. Acrylic/plexi glass wont hold over a good amount of time and can cause a flood.

We did that for a friend recently. 15 dollar tank from petsmart (20 gallon long) and some sheets of acrylic from Home Depot and bam. Sump made for about 30 bucks after we're all said and done.

I agree with the other but also agree that is a nice sump in the pick and would work well with the media trays to catch food and what not I made my first sump just like above a 20 lng and acylic from hd with alot of sealant. but IMO I would build one cheap and it works good. as you will more then likely want to upgrade sooner or later.

I personally think wet/dry filters are unnecessary for reef tanks. A regular sump is all that's really needed. You're paying for stuff that's not required since all your biological filtration can come from your rock/sand. Wet/dry filters require more regular maintenance/cleaning than a regular sump and its not necessary.

    More sump info.

That sump looks awesome, the addition of the fluidizers is a plus for sure. If you have the cash...go for it.
