sump filled to line(i drew) where Water is when i shut pumps off ( fill line )
    ok
got one way valve after pump on output to tank.
tank output spray bar sits just below where overflow shutdowns down.
    bout2 -3 inches.
got air tube inside spraybar glued in to break flow & blow spray bar down .
course i don't want air bubbles so air tube is in the water also.

Forgot to turn pumps on after feeding last night ....duh !!!
small spill got fan Blowing LOL
is there a way to fix this ???
I have seen the alarms that makes a circuit when water touches it, IE light buzzer. BUT less it calls me at work I probably got a spill right.
so what are some options ?
move spraybar up i got air bubbles :(
tis apparent that one way valves leak over time, this is not a cheap valve
    S40 pvc heavy dudy.
again I say "options" all u pro DIY guys got to know how to bullet proof your tank/sump !!!

Lower your fill line until the back flow doesn't overflow the sump.

Sorry the spray bar part was throwing me off. you are talking about the output into the DT? right? and that is drawing water back to the sump and causing an overflow. correct? If so all you need to do is drill a small hole in the line of the return pump. Just a small hole around the water line ( i like mine just under the waterline. Then when the water is past the hole air goes in and will break the siphon. this should work, If I am understanding the situation

I agree with the guy above but you shouldnt have to do this to keep your sump from overflowing. In theory this all works off gravity and if your sump is filling up to much you have to much water in your DT. The pump will never put more in the tank then it can pump out of the sump and obviously it cant fill the sump faster then it can pump out.

You could have a little clog somewhere? No telling but yes the poster above is correct you can make a small hole just below the water line so once the hole is uncovered it draws air in and looses the siphon. Many people do that as a preventive measure incase the power goes out or something like that.

I'm with 2 in 10, lower your top off mark on your sump. The keep it simple rule applies here.

I hope you get it fixed but a siphon overflow is not usually known to be bullet proof.

Nope, it doesn't. The real issue was that there was no way to break a siphon on the return line. The end needs to be just under the water, or have a hole in it.

Otherwise, all it takes is a power outage to ruin your day.

Putting a hole in the return line to stop the siphon might be unnecessary if he can just raise the return output. Wouldn't you think it's just easier to make sure the spray bar is just on the surface so IF that did occur it wouldn't siphon much down. You should always have enough space for your overflow, and maybe another gallon or so, which would prevent this.

Either way, the situation sucks, but certainly resolvable by more than one method.
