Could anyone tell me where to find some info on the optimal diameter for the plumbing to and from the sump?
    Thanks,

Hey Bunner, what size tank and sump and what size pump are you using. Flow rating GPH of the pump is really what determines the pipe diameter. Tank and sump size determine the ball-park flow rate and the pump you should use, based upon how many times per hour you want the water in the tank to "turn over".

If you're doing a 90 gallon, ReefSparky just did some good plumbing work on his new set up here:

1" for both in/out, resize input to 3/4" inside the overflow to accomidate the nozzle size. if your output from the main pump is 3/4" there is no need to downsize.
