My mag 7 impellor magnet broke and I am trying to decide what I should do.
I have a 90 gallon. Should I just go for another mag 7 or get something else?

I'd just order a new impeller; cheap and easy.

I'll nab a link for you in a second.

I would but the pump is about 6 years old and I know the inside has a lot of wear from the sounds it was making for a while. Or would the new impeller just center itself?

Would a mag 9 be too much for a hang on overflow box system on a 90? Or would I need to run two ovrflow boxes?

I have a mag 9 on my 90 gallon and it is a lot! I have it dialed way down. I wish I had bought a smaller pump. I'm sure having two overflows would help with that - but then you have to have two. LOL

Hmm. So you think the Mag 9 is overkill? Too bad there isnt a Mag 8
How about a quiet one 2200?

As long as you put a ball valve on the 9 so you can adjust it, it is fine. Full throttle, yes, would be way too much.

I don't know about quiet ones.

yeah, seems like it would be too much, and more noise also

Does the mag 9 have the same output size as the mag 7? I have a ball shut off valve on the current pvc setup.. so I could tone it down a bit..
    I think its 1/2" pvc
