If anyone knows where I can get a sump pump please inform me. I am looking for one that will push over 1400gph. The head is close to 5 feet. This will be used for a 110gallon tank, with a 15gallon sump. If you have one or know where i can get a cheap one let me know. Thanks

WATCH OUT for those fresh water pond pumps...greatest mistake I ever made was getting a "cheap" one when I was first starting out. [IMG]

For the next year or so I battled a terrible copper problem...every time I got it under control, it came back with a vengence...killing off every invert and all LR in tank...almost gave up hobby --- in fact I hated it for a while.

Finally discovered my "cheap" pump had a brass sleeve/fitting in it that was leaching copper into my tank.

I could have bought a couple dozen of the best pumps on the market for all the $$$ I spent on inverts and Cu removing remedies. [IMG]

    BE CAREFUL!

Are you drilling the sump for an external pump or using a submersible one?? Might want to remember that these pumps put off heat so if you can place the pump outside the sump it will help with heat issues. Little Giant makes some nice quiet external pumps, I run 4 of them and you can hardly hear them run.

Also look at the Quiet One pumps 5000 and 6000 series they pump 900gph and 1050gph at 5 foot of head pressure and can be used wet/dry. I use a 3000 series and it is very quiet compared to others. I cant even tell if its running, although I'm sure the larger pumps are louder. Check out marinedepot.com
