sump pump?

    would a mag 5 work for a 40 breeder with a 30 gallon sump and abt 4' of return hose?

    A Mag 5 is 310 gph at 4' head. A 30 gallon sump times 10 is 300 gph. So I would say yes.

    It should. Long as you have the appropriate overflow box you should be fine.

    That should be fine. You might have to throttle back the outlet of the pump a little. I would plumb in a ball valve in case you need it, if you don't then just leave it wide open.
